The house looks out on a series
of islands that are protected from development by the Kennebunkport Conservation Trust. At low tide you can
walk out to many of these islands. At high tide, you can reach them by rowboat or
kayak or by swimming. Cape Porpoise has been described as a kayakers' paradise, with its archipelago of protected islands. A beautiful sandy beach on nearby Stage Island is the perfect spot for picnics and building sandcastles. The Goat Island lighthouse is a fifteen minute boat ride away.
The house is a few minutes walk from the end of the pier in Cape
Porpoise, where you can watch the lobster boats unload, or go out to
eat. The center of Cape Porpoise on Route 9 is less than half a mile
away, with a grocery store, Cape Porpoise Kitchen, and several restaurants. Dock
Square in Kennebunkport is about 2 miles away, with many shops, ice cream stands, and the famous Clam Shack.
