History

The Dow House was built in 1903 and has stayed in the Dow family ever since. It is located in Cape Porpoise, a small fishing village near Kennebunkport, Maine. This is a place to come if you enjoy quiet afternoons reading a book on the porch while taking in the ocean view, walking on tidal flats, collecting sea shells, and island exploring. We don't have a TV and don't plan to get one.The house retains most of its original charm including a library and wrap around porch. The major change since 1903 is the addition of a bathroom with a deep clawfoot bathtub where you can enjoy luxurious bubble baths.
